Margareta "Margaret" Walta, 86, of Jefferson, died on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at Sunset Ridge Memory Care in Jefferson.

Born on January 21, 1930, in Czechoslovakia, to Franz and Marie (Kaps) Harich, she married Kurt Walta in July of 1952, in Germany.  He preceded her in death on April 15, 2007.

The family moved to the USA in 1960.  They first settled in Montello area for a year and then moved to Jefferson and have lived there since.

She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jefferson.

Surviving are one son, Gerald (Vicki) Walta of Lake Mills; three grandsons, Rev. Chad (Julia) Walta, Kristian (Jamie) Walta, and David Walta; five great-grandchildren, Carlos, Noah, Eliza, Juliette and Abigail Walta; one sister-in-law, Frieda Milde of Germany; and a niece and nephew.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Franz Harich.

Funeral services will be held at the Olsen Funeral Home in Jefferson at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3, with the Rev. Josh Martin officiating.

Burial will take place in Union Cemetery in Jefferson.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday after 1 p.m. until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting memorials go to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rainbow Hospice of Jefferson or Lakeside Lutheran School in Lake Mills.
