Margaret “Marge” A. Wendt nee Rupprecht, 83, of Jefferson passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at her home surrounded by family.

Marge was born on August 6, 1934 in Jefferson, WI, the daughter of Walter and Eleanor (Waleske) Rupprecht.  She is a 1951 graduate of Jefferson High School and on September 27, 1952, she married Herbert L. Wendt in Jefferson.  The couple had 7 children and enjoyed 52 years of marriage until his death in 2004.   She was an avid volunteer.  She gave of her time in many activities; from Cub Scouts in the 1960’s to “Meals on Wheels” delivery as recently as three weeks ago. The list of groups and organizations she assisted over the years is too extensive to show in detail, but Marge was always happiest when she could help others by sharing not only her time, but her talents.  Her grandchildren were most precious to Marge and she included them in volunteer activities and encouraged each to put other people first.  Marge was a great example to her entire family and will be missed by all who she touched.

Marge is survived by: her children, David W. Wendt of Milton, James C. (Marcy) Wendt Sr. of Bayside, Richard W. Wendt of Jefferson, Michael A. Wendt of Jefferson, Judith K. McDonald of Jefferson, Mary T. Wendt of Fort Atkinson and Gerald “Jerry” T. (Brenda) Wendt of Jefferson; siblings Sister Rosemary Celestine Rupprecht of St. Frances, William (Marge) Rupprecht of Jefferson, Joseph (Donna) Rupprecht of Monroe, Catherine Griffin of Jefferson, Lawrence (Mary) Rupprecht of Jefferson, Raymond (Cheryl) Rupprecht of Jefferson and Robert (Nancy) Rupprecht of Jefferson; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great, great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by: her parents; Sisters Mary Rupprecht and Helen Jacobson; Grandson Christopher Wendt; and Great-Granddaughter Adrianne Jade McDonald.

The Family would like to thank all the relatives, neighbors and friends who supported Marge in her last days. A special thanks to the staff of Visiting Angels and Rainbow Hospice.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am Monday, September 18, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Jefferson with Fr. John Urbine and Fr. Timothy Renz presiding.  Visitation will be at the church on Sunday from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm and on Monday from 10:00 am until time of service. Interment will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
