Welcome to the memorial page for

June E. Knutson

June 18, 1928 ~ July 28, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years Old

June E. Knutson, 89 of Jefferson, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 28, 2017 after a short stay at Blackhawk Senior Residence of Fort Atkinson.

The third of three girls, June was born on June 18, 1928 in the town of Aztalan, WI to Archibald and May (Rapson) Nevins.  She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1947.  While employed at a local sock manufacturing company, she met SFC Fred Heth Jr.  The couple married in 1948 and twin boys, Fred and Frank, followed in 1950.  June and her boys lived with her mother in Jefferson while her husband was stationed in Korea.

In 1962, she wed Robert G. Weber of Watertown and Robin, the last of her three children was born.  June began working at the Countryside Home in Jefferson at that time.  She was active in her union, serving as vice-president as well as creating and participating in entertainment and activities for the residents.

In 1972, she met the love of her life, Clarence Knutson, a fellow employee at Countryside, and they were wed shortly thereafter.  They enjoyed many camping trips together to northern Wisconsin and a trip to South Dakota.  Clarence was responsible for the additions to the front and rear of the house, which soon found “She” running a craft store in front and “He” running a plant nursery in the back during their spare time.

Evidently, Clarence had inspired the traveler in June and after his death in 1976, she and her youngest son visited London and Cornwall for 3 weeks.  They toured the sights but mostly enjoyed meeting aunts, uncles, and cousins from her mother’s side of the family for the first time.  She would eventually make trips to Florida, New York, Arizona, Seattle, San Diego, Oregon, Texas to see great-grandchildren, as well as Canada and Mexico.

June also spent time with her Miniature Schnauzer “Lady” who kept her company on their long walks around town.

After her retirement in 1988, June became a volunteer at the local Humane Society, helping one day a week.  She was a life-long member of Immanuel United Methodist Church of Jefferson, frequently assisting in the office as well as contributing flowers from her garden for the altar.

Among June’s many interests were collecting red glassware, miniature shoes, and Betty Boop memorabilia.  She was never seen sitting idle as she was always knitting, doing needle point, scrap booking, or tending to her large garden.  Many of her crafts were donated to the Jefferson Senior Center as prizes for the weekly bingo, which she also enjoyed playing… although according to her, she was not very lucky.  She also enjoyed watching wrestling on TV and had made many trips to Rockford, IL to see the wrestling in person.

June is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Alice (Veryl “Bud”) Demoe and Jennie (Frank) Meske.

She will be greatly missed by her sons Fred (Margaret) Heth of Egg Harbor, W I, Frank Heth of Fort Atkinson, and Robin (Wendy) Weber of Bay City, OR; four grandsons and five great-grandchildren.

Her family would like to thank the staff at Blackhawk Senior Residence for their care and support.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Jefferson Humane Society.

A visitation will be held from 10:00AM to 1:00PM on Friday, August 4, 2017 at the Olsen-Gibson Funeral Home in Jefferson.  June will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery of Jefferson.
