Joseph E. Ganser, 78 (to the day) of Jefferson, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017 at Blackhawk Senior Living of Fort Atkinson with his family by his side.

Joe was born on April 3, 1939 in Jefferson, WI, the son of Ervin and Dorothy (Klitzkie) Ganser.  He is a 1957 graduate of Jefferson High School and later served his country in the National Guard.  On June 14, 1962, he married Joan Shauer at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Watertown and the couple had 3 children.  Joe was a talented Machinist and worked for APV Crepaco of Lake Mills for 20+ years.   Joe loved the outdoors and enjoyed every kind of fishing, hunting and especially loved his red roses.  He was able to tackle and complete any mechanical project.  He was industrious, creative, fun loving, and adored his Cat “Putz”.  Joe considered others first and was willing to help anyway he could.  He loved his family, loved to dance and to sing Gospel Hymns.  Joe was a special man and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by: his Children Jan (Tom) Oakley of Fort Atkinson, Brian Ganser of Watertown, Gail (Joey) Klitze of Baraboo; 2 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; Siblings Betty Spangler of Jefferson, Norman Ganser of Kennett Square, PA, Charlotte (Gary) Zeier of Appleton; and other relatives, Good Neighbor Howard Hocktel, and friends.

He is preceded in death by: his parents, wife (1975), Brother Carl, Sister Mary, Brother-in-Law Roger, and Grandson James Oakley.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, April 7, 2017 at St. Mark’s Ev. Lutheran Church with Rev. David Zandt presiding.  Visitation will be on Friday from 9:00AM until the time of service at the church.  Burial will take place at Lutheran Cemetery of Watertown following the service.
