Clarence John Kozlowski

Clarence J. Kozlowski, 93, of Racine, formerly of Whitewater, died on Friday, January 27, 2017, at St. Mary's Wheaton Franciscan Hospital in Racine.

Born on July 18, 1923, in Lublin, Wisconsin, to Alexander and Julia (Damski) Kozlowski, he married Loretta Young on December 14, 1956, in Chicago.  She preceded him in death on December 24, 2004.

Clarence was raised in Chicago.  He served in the U.S. Army during Word War II in the Pacific Theater, including fighting in the Philippines.  After the war, he moved to Wisconsin Dells where his family ran Kozy's Resort, where he met Loretta.

He was an active member in the American Legion and served as the Commander of Lyndon Station American Legion Post.  He was a long-time member of the William Graham American Legion Post 173 of Whitewater.  Clarence participated in the Honor Flight to Washington, DC in October of 2016.

He was employed at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for over 30 years.

Surviving are one daughter, Julia (Russ) Stark of Racine; twin granddaughters, Jessica and Courtney Stark; a great-grandson, Jack Peterman; one sister, Arlene (Harold) Meyer of Middleton; and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and one son, Alex Kozlowski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Whitewater at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, with the Rev. Mark Niehaus officiating.

Burial, with Military Honors, will take place in Calvary Cemetery in Whitewater.

Friends may call at the church on Saturday after 10 a.m. until the time of services.

The Olsen Funeral Home in Jefferson is assisting the family.
