Carol J. Auerbach, 93, formerly of Rome, died on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at the Sunset Ridge Assisted Living Center in Johnson Creek.

Born on December 12, 1922, in Rome, to William and Ruby (Hoffman) Ley, she married Bob Auerbach on July 8, 1944, in Rome.  He preceded her in death on August 1, 2005.

She was a member of St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rome.

Carol and Bob owned and operated the former Sullivan Telephone Company for many years.

Surviving are one son, Ron (Sharon) Auerbach of Rome; one granddaughter, Lisa Auerbach; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, Craig Auerbach; one granddaughter, Michelle Auerbach; one sister, LaVerne Pagel; and four brothers, Leslie Ley, Edward Ley, William Ley Jr. and Allen Ley.

Family graveside funeral services will take place at Hoffman Cemetery in Rome at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 18, with the Rev. Michael Mannisto officiating.

The Olsen Funeral Home in Jefferson is assisting the family.
