Betty J. Schutten, 80 of Helenville, died on November 14, 2017 at her home.

Betty was born on January 5, 1937 at home in Eagle, WI, the Daughter of Bernard and Norma (Reich) Lucht.  She is a 1955 graduate of Palmyra High School and on September 28, 1957, she married Edward Schutten at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Sullivan.  The couple raised 2 children.  Betty loved being outside - working in her garden.  She especially loved growing strawberries.  Family reunions were a yearly highlight for Betty.  Even at Ed’s opposition, she insisted on hosting the gatherings in her home.  In recent years, she enjoyed taking trips the casino.  Betty is described as a wonderful mom and a beautiful person.  She will be missed.

Betty is survived by: Husband Ed; Children Deborah Schutten of Helenville and Jim Schutten of Jefferson; Grandchildren Anthony Luebke and Cheri Luebke; Sisters Eunice and Darlene; and Brother Russell.  She is also survived by a number of other family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Grandson Andrew (2012), Brothers Arnold, Melvin, John, Bernard, Kenneth, Don, and Raymond.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
