Agnes V. Karrels, 94 of Jefferson, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Alden Estates of Jefferson.

Agnes was born on November 25, 1922 in the farm home in Genesee, WI, the daughter Frederick and Eleanor (Weyer) Esser.  On February 5, 1944, she married Edward Karrels at St. Paul’s Catholic Church of Genesee.  In 1947, the couple purchased the farm in Hebron, where they raised their 3 children.  She spent 20 plus years at Highsmith after her children had grown.  She loved playing cards with her husband and her family and friends.  She especially enjoyed winning.  She did not like to sit still.  She loved traveling, camping, flying, going for drives, and riding on motorcycles.  Agnes loved to read maps and see the beautiful countryside.  She was a dedicated volunteer and donated her time at St. Francis of Assisi, St. Vincent de Paul, and St. Coletta’s.  She was a Red Hatters and lived in her home on Main Street for 46 years.  In her final year, she enjoyed making friends at Aster Assisted Living of Fort Atkinson. 

Agnes is survived by: her Children Barbara (Larry) Porter-Quam of McFarland, Mary Jane (Joseph) Witkins of Cary, IL, and Jerome (Shirley) Karrels of Jefferson; 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by 56 nieces and nephews, and many other relatives.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant Son Peter, and a Brother Charles.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00PM on Monday, May 15, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi with Fr. Thomas Coyle presiding.  Visitation will be on Monday from 10:00AM until the time of service at the church.  Burial will be at 3:30PM on Monday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery of Fort Atkinson.
