Wayne R. Bentheimer, 83 of Jefferson, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.
Wayne was born on December 20, 1939, in Watertown, WI, the son of Clarence and Ada (Wendorf) Bentheimer. He was a 1958 graduate of Jefferson High School and served his county in the Army National Guard. On December 30, 1961, Wayne married Jheri Ann Mangan at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lomira, WI. The couple had 2 sons, Mike and Tim. He was a sales rep at his family’s Pabst Beer distributorship, Phillips Liquor in Madison, and finally at Sysco foods for 25 plus years, retiring in 2002. He enjoyed the sales process and conversing with his customers. He held a private airplane pilot’s license for a number of years and enjoyed time spent boating, snowmobiling, and being outside. He took pride in his home and loved maintaining the lawn and cutting wood. Wayne was a very social person who had a wicked sense of humor. Although he took his job seriously, Wayne loved his customers and being able to talk to so many people. His family was a major source of pride for Wayne, and his wife, sons, and grandsons will miss him dearly.
He is survived by: his wife of 61 years Jheri Bentheimer of Jefferson; sons Mike (Vicki) Bentheimer of Fort Atkinson and Tim (Stephanie) Bentheimer of Dousman; and grandson Zachary Bentheimer of Dousman. Wayne is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Gerald Bentheimer and Marlene Radtke.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, October 30, 2023, at the Olsen-Gibson Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Bezanson presiding. Visitation will be on Monday from 12:00PM until the time of service at the funeral home. Wayne will be laid to rest at a Rock River Cemetery of Jefferson during a private family graveside.
