Traci L. de Groot, 56 of Fort Atkinson, WI, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center of Johnson Creek, after a long battle with cancer.
Traci was born on September 12, 1968, in Fort Atkinson, WI, the daughter of Eugene “Robby” and Patricia “Pat” (Whitmore) Robinson.  She grew up with 2 siblings in Jefferson, WI.  She graduated from Jefferson High School and continued her education in early childhood development in La Crosse, WI. Throughout her career, Traci worked between food service and special needs for youth and adult individuals.  Traci married Michael de Groot on July 21, 2007, in Fort Atkinson, and the couple had a daughter Michaela “Mickey”, on July 3, 2008.  Family was important to Traci.  When she could, Traci loved thrift shopping with her mom, sister, and daughter.  Traci lit up with joy when people came to visit or had family dinners on the weekends. Over the past 7 years while she battled cancer, Traci loved crocheting and posting her completed color-by-number pictures on Facebook.  Although she will be dearly missed, the family is comforted in knowing that Traci’s suffering is over.
Traci is survived by: her father Eugene “Robby” Robinson of Jefferson; husband Michael de Groot of Fort Atkinson; daughter Michaela “Mickey” de Groot of Fort Atkinson; siblings Robin Aldrich of Milton and Larry (Carla) Morris-Robinson of Johnson Creek; as well nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother.
A special thank you to all the doctors, nurses, and staff of the UW Carbone Cancer Center for assisting Traci in her courageous fight against her illness.  Also, to Rainbow Hospice Care for making Traci’s quality of life their focus and for their dedicated and loving care for not only Traci, but also for her family.
A celebration of Traci’s life will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at the Jefferson VFW (1420 S. Rockwell Ave. Jefferson) from 12:00PM – 4:00PM.
