Timothy D. Gard, 70 of Jefferson, died on Monday, June 26, 2023, at his home.
Timothy was born on October 22, 1952, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Norbert and Ramona (Nissen) Gard. His family moved to the Sullivan area in his youth, and he graduated from Jefferson High School in 1971. He joined the United States Marine Corps soon after graduation and served from 1972-1974. Upon his honorable discharge, Tim began working at a variety of different jobs in the area. Tim was a proud patriot and loved his country and what it stands for. Watching war movies is what he preferred to view, and he was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. His children have fond memories of him taking them on many camping trips to Jelly Stone Campground in the Dells and Tim was an avid outdoorsman. Tim is remembered for his blunt, say-it-like-it-is personality, and his boisterous voice and hardy laugh. He loved his children and grandchildren dearly and he will be missed.
He is survived by: his children Michael (Pahoua) Gard of Waukesha, Shawn (Joselin Martinez) Gard of Waukesha, and Natalie (Mark) Mickinak of Mukwonago; 10 grandchildren; siblings Bernadette (Steve) Ruder of Ft. Meyers, FL, Dolores McDermott of Ft. Meyers, FL, Charles (Donna) Gard of Jefferson, Robert (Terri) Gard of Sullivan, Terrence (Diane) Gard of Oconomowoc, Lawrence (Shelley) Gard of Whitewater, and Lori (Bill) Zick of Helenville. He is also survived by a number of other relatives and friends.
Tim is preceded in death by his parents, grandson Cason, his brother James Gard, and other family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Tim’s honor to a veteran’s organization of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
An open house in Tim’s honor will be held from 4:00PM – 7:00PM on Friday, July 21, 2023, at the Olsen-Gibson Funeral Home of Jefferson. He will be buried with full military honors at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove at a later date.
