Theodore E. Krauss Sr passed away on February 6, 2026, at home at the age of 92.
Theodore was born on November 14, 1933, in Waukesha, WI to Howard and Clarice (Klepper) Krauss. He graduated from Waukesha High School in 1952. During his high school years, he was a stellar athlete. He enjoyed boxing and boxed in the Golden Gloves. Theodore was a veteran, having served in the Air Force from 1952 until 1956. He was on the police force in Waukesha for a number of years walking “the beat”. He built and repaired pole sheds under his business, Krauss Builders for years. He was a 4-H leader and scout master with his children. He was a member of St Luke’s Lutheran Church and was on the church council. He served as Town Chairman for the Town of Sullivan. He was an avid Packer and Brewer fan. He married Sandra (Leistiko) Schluter on May 25, 1974. They had eight children all surviving, Patricia (Ken) Klettke, Karen (William) Stade, Linda Crosby, Theodore (Beth) Krauss Jr, Steven (Theresa) Schluter, Carolyn Pellmann, Robert Krauss and Jeffrey (Shari) Krauss. Seventeen grandchildren, Nick (Shelley) Klettke, Christy (Jeff) Behnke, Alex (Meghan) Klettke, Heath and Kayla Schluter, Jake (Amy) Zimmerman, Ben (Michelle) Zimmerman, Brandon (Rachel) Thom, Justin (Katelyn) Thom, Lindsey Krauss, Wesley (Emily) Krauss, Kimberly, Mackenzie, Logan, Kristopher, Riyan and Ryleigh Krauss. Twenty-two great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Sandra of 51 years. He is also survived by his sister Betty Brandt and brother Butch (Rita) Krauss, sister-in laws, Carol Krauss, Debra Nuetzel and Linda Salazar along with many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jim (Glada) Krauss and Ken Krauss, “Uncle Ray” Clody Klepper, Brother in laws, David Brandt, Gene Nuetzel, Richard (Vicki) Leistiko, sister-in-law, Laurie (Lance) Brobst, Son in Laws, Tony Zimmerman and Jerry Pellmann, Great Granddaughter Eowyn Mia Klettke and Niece Lori Katzner.
A Christian funeral service will be held at 12:00PM on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Rome, with Rev. Marilyn Lange presiding. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 10:00AM until the time of service at the church. Ted will be laid to rest at St. Luke’s Cemetery with full military honors following the funeral.
