Sylvia Kwiatkowski, 74 of Fort Atkinson, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026, at the Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center of Johnson Creek.
Sylvia was born on February 27, 1951, in Seguin, TX, the daughter of Felipe and Josephine (Gonzolez) Marez. The Marez family moved to the Jefferson area in Sylvia’s youth, and she graduated from Jefferson High School in 1970. In May of 1981, Sylvia married Alan Kwiatkowski. The couple had a son, Justin, and enjoyed 44 years of marriage until his death on October 1, 2025. Sylvia was a crafter, and the couple traveled to many craft and art shows, selling her creations. The couple also enjoyed many concerts together, traveling to rock shows near and far. Watkin’s stores always held a specials place for Sylvia. She enjoyed looking, buying, and selling the company’s natural products. Flea markets, rummage sales, and thrifting were lifelong hobbies of hers. She was known to volunteer her time and talents wherever she was needed. Sylvia and Al raised their wonderful grandson Thai, and Sylvia gave her time at Thai’s school, helped as an interpreter, and even assisted multiple families in obtaining their citizenship. Sylvia looked to serve others. The children in Sylvia’s life were cherished, and she especially cared for her nieces, nephews, and grandson. Family trips to Wisconsin Dells area waterparks and having many dinners at Monk’s. Her outgoing and friendly personality brought many friends, and she made meaningful connections often. She will be remembered for her love of people, willingness to sacrifice for others, and her love for her family.
Sylvia is survived by: her son Justin Kwiatkoski of Helenville; grandson Thai Kwiatkowski of Fort Atkinson; siblings Virigina (Raul) Guerra of Jefferson, Alicia (Austin) Steeves of Seguin, TX, Rose (Jim) Wegner of Jefferson, and Phil (Traci) Marez of Redding, PA. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Her parents, husband, and brother “Rocky” Marez have preceded her in death.
A memorial Mass will be held at 12:00PM, on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church of Jefferson with Fr. Dave Timmerman presiding. Visitation will be on Saturday from 11:00AM until the Mass at St. Lawrence. A time of fellowship will take place at the at the St. Coletta Cabin following the Mass.
