Susan Wendling Obituary

Susan M. “Sue” Wendling, 57 of Jefferson, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 following a long battle with Huntington’s Disease.

Sue was born on January 8, 1963 in Madison, WI, the daughter of Lee and Linda (Lundenberg) Ary.  She grew up in the Janesville area and graduated from Joseph A. Craig High School in 1981.  She married Dale Benson in the mid-1980s and the couple had 4 boys.  Dale passed away in a tragic motorcycle accident in 1992.  Sue was a smart lady with a high IQ and many talents.  She played the xylophone in the band the Green Berets and was involved in theater.  Sue was known as a “lousy cook, but an awesome baker”, a fact well-known by her family.  She enjoyed being around water and loved to fish and swim.  Sue has experienced many challenges in her life, but was a tough, dedicated lady who fought until the very end.  Her sons were of the utmost importance to her and she will be dearly missed.

Sue is survived by: her sons Adam (Jess) Ary, Matthew (Crystal Behl) Benson, Jonathon (Michelle) Benson, and Jeremiah (Teiara Leigh) Butler; 10 grandchildren Braydon, Alexander, Jackson, Lincoln, Aaron, Brienna, Carter, Max, Jayden, and Hunter; siblings Judy (Lori) Ary-Luckey of Greenfield and Michael (Cathy) Ary of Janesville.  Sue is also survived by other relatives, friends, and a cat Mya.

She is preceded in death by her parents and 2 husbands.

The family would like to express a sincere thank you to Care Wisconsin, the staff of Rainbow Hospice, and especially Kelly and Jack Douglas for providing such a loving home for Sue in her last year.

A private celebration of Sue’s life will be held at a later date.
