Shirley A. Zehms, 85 of Sullivan, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024, at her home.

Shirley was born on March 22, 1938, in Rhinelander, WI, the daughter of Elizabeth Troemel.  She graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1956.  On September 9, 1956, Shirley married Norman A. Zehms, Sr. in Yuma, AZ.  The couple had 4 children and enjoyed 46 years of marriage until his death in the year 2000.  Shirley loved being outside in nature.  An avid gardener, Shirley was known for her green thumb.  She was a talented baker, making pies, cakes, and cookies to share with her family, friends, and neighbors.  She enjoyed traveling, especially to her cabin on Blue Gill Lake in the town of Lake Tomahawk, enjoying the North Woods year-round.  Having grown up in the area, she maintained many friendships up north, even until her death.   Shirley was a seamstress and sewed many dresses for her family, friends, and the dolls of family and friends!  Above all other interests, Shirley loved spending time with her family.  Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren enjoyed special activities together and she will be dearly missed.

Shirley is survived by: her children Norman Zehms, Jr. of Seymour, TN, Shay (Jennifer) Zehms of Tomah, Gregory (Genevieve) Zehms of Fairfield, CA, Lauri (Ken) Lingnofski of Menasha; 11 grandchildren Elizabeth, Lindsay (Jesse), Daniel, Dalton, Gregory, Jr. (Sarah), Garrett, Lani (Daryl), Ashli (Mike), Nicole (Ezequiel), Shannon, and Breckyn; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law Allan (Jan) Prosser of Sun Prairie and Michael Prosser of Jefferson; and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Robert Troemel and sisters-in-law Susie Prosser and Rhea Davis.

A graveside service will be held at 9:00AM at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove on Tuesday, February 6, 2024.
