Scott A. Bon Durant

Scott A. Bon Durant, 56 of Jefferson, passed away at his home on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

Scott was born on August 14, 1970, in Stoughton, WI, the son of Richard and Sandra (Janes) Bon Durant.  He graduated from Stoughton High School in 1988 and joined the US Navy soon after.  He served his country well and was deployed overseas as part of Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm, for which he was awarded the Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Government of Kuwait), and Southwest Asia Service Medal.  Scott continued his work of service as a Jefferson County Deputy Sherrif, retiring in 2024.  Early in his law enforcement career, he also was employed part-time with the Johnson Creek Police Department.  During his service to the citizens of Jefferson County, Scott served as a Patrol Deputy, assisted with Court Security, served as a decoy with the Canine Division, was a member of the Dive and Rescue Team, Honor Guard, Crisis Negotiation Team, and the Jefferson County Police Officer Support Team.

Scott lived a life of public service.  He used his natural skill set in a way that helped others in crisis or gave general support where needed.  His priority of putting other’s needs above his own leaves a legacy of honor, and one that can be remembered and emulated proudly.

Deputy Scott Allan Bon Durant will be dearly missed.

He is survived by: his loving parents Richard and Sandy Bon Durant of Stoughton; siblings Sherry Bon Durant of Madison and Jeffrey (Tina) Bon Durant of Stoughton; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends and fellow officers.

An Open-House will be on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 4:00PM – 7:00PM at the Olsen-Gibson Funeral Home in Jefferson.  A brief service of remembrance and military honors will take place at 10:00AM on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery (21731 Spring St, Union Grove, WI 53182).
