Ruben C. Guerra Obituary

Ruben C. Guerra, 80 of Fort Atkinson, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at SSM Health – St. Mary’s in Madison.

Ruben was born on March 25, 1946, in Edinberg, TX, the son of Raul and Natalia (Compian) Guerra.  He married his bride, Virginia Robledo on April 9, 1962, in Jefferson.  Ruben and Virginia were just 16 years old at the time of their union, were blessed with 64 years of marriage, and had 4 sons.  Ruben was employed in Fort Atkinson and Jefferson and retired from Friskies in the year 2000.  In retirement, he worked for Mid-State Auto Auctions and drove a flatbed there.  Ruben was a life-long and very dedicated Green Bay Packer’s fan!  Throughout his life, Ruben would joke “when I die, take me to Lambeau!!”.  He also was a very talented bowler and bowled his last game one week before his death.  Spending time with his family at local bowling alleys was time cherished.  Even though his health was failing, Ruben made it a priority to fulfill his bowling team commitments.  His family was the most important thing in Ruben’s life.  He provided well for his family, set a wonderful example of hard work and dedication, raised his sons and grandchildren, and loved them all deeply.  He was a tough man, who rarely complained, always put other peoples needs above his own, and will be dearly missed by those who knew him.

He is survived by: his wife Virginia Guerra; sons Ruben (Sherri) Guerra, Jr. of Jefferson, Raul (Dixie) Guerra of Merril, Fred (Gabriella) Guerra of Fort Atkinson, and Joseph Guerra of Jefferson; grandchildren Frankie, Veronica, Jordyn, Derek, Josh, and Cassie; 6 great-grandchildren; and his siblings Raul (Virginia) Guerra and Lucia Guerra-Martinez. Ruben is also survived by other family members and MANY friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Rick, twin Robert and Rene, sister Irma  and other family members.

A memorial mass will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 11:00AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jefferson with Fr. Jorge Miramontes presiding.  Visitation will be on Friday from 9:00AM until the time of Mass.  He will be buried at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery following the service.  A lunch will be provided after the burial in the St. John’s School gym.
