Ronald B. Propp, 83 of Pontiac, IL (formerly of Sullivan, WI), passed away after a short illness on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at OSF St. Francis Hospital of Peoria, IL.
Ron was born on March 23, 1943, in Waukesha, WI, the son of William and Betty (Lovell) Propp. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1961, worked at Schweiger Industries, married in 1964, and started his family soon after. The family moved to Pontiac, IL in the mid 1960’s, and Ron began work at the Pontiac Indian Chair Factory, a job he held until the 1980’s. He later owned and operated two bars in Pontiac, “The Propper Place” and “Ron’s Tap” and began working at Caterpillar Inc. in Pontiac in the early 2000s. Ron loved to travel with his siblings, seeing the country together, and enjoying each other’s company along the way. Family was an extremely high priority for Ron. He made countless trips to his grandchildren’s sporting events, concerts, and other activities. Distance was never an issue. The yearly family reunion was starred on his calendar, and time spent together was cherished deeply. Ron was committed to his family and made serving them his priority. He never missed a birthday or holiday. He will be sorely missed by his family and the people who knew him.
He is survived by: his 4 sons Bryan Propp of Fort Atkinson, Kevin (Kim) Propp of Edgerton, Daryn Propp of Whitewater, and Justin (Sarah Long) Propp of Milwaukee; stepchildren Brandi (Joe) Rainbolt of Pontiac, IL, Kyle Monical of Bayshore Garden, FL, and Jayde McDonald of Urbana, IL; 10 grandchildren; and siblings Pat (“Bing”) Crosby of Jefferson, Nancy (Paul) Wetherell of Sullivan, William (Sari) Propp of Pontiac, Steven (Susan) Propp of Cape Elizabeth, ME, and Susan (Brad) Schroedl of Fort Atkinson. Ron is also survived by a number of other relatives and many friends.
Ron is preceded in death by his parents.
A Christian funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Jefferson. Visitation will be on Friday from 9:00AM until the time of service at the church. A private family burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Jefferson.
A celebration of life will be held at Bob & Ringo’s Tavern in Pontiac, IL on August 21,2026 from 5:00PM-7:00PM.
