Richard J. Engelhart, 80 of Johnson Creek, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 26, 2024, at his home.
Richard was born on March 7, 1944, to Bernard and Ruth (Fischer) Engelhart. On November 18, 1967, Richard married Elaine Alexander at St. James Lutheran Church in Cambridge. He attended school at St. John’s Lutheran School and Watertown High School, both of Watertown. He was employed at the Jefferson County Highway Department for 37 years. After Retirement, he was employed at Jefferson Bus Service and at Kutz Livery Service, until his Illness. He was a member of the Helenville Fire Department for over 40 years, Jefferson County Fire Fighters Association, Wisconsin State Fire Fighters Association, and the St. Peter’s Church Council, where he served as an elder and collector.
He is survived by: his wife of 56 years, Elaine; special friends (family) Eric and Michelle Carlson and Shawn Wolf; sister-in-law Carol Roth; and siblings, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his son Brian Engelhart on June 29, 2023, his parents, special in-laws Robert and Viola Alexander, his maternal and paternal grandparent, and 3 sisters.
Elaine would like to give a special thanks to Rainbow Hospice for the compassion and care during Richard’s illness.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church of Helenville with Rev. Titus Buelow presiding. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00AM until the time of service at the church.
