Ramona Keller Obituary

Ramona “Sunny” Keller, 75 of Sullivan, joined her ancestors on April 2, 2023.

She was born on September 27th, 1947, the daughter of Henry and Bernice (Wherley) Bruder. She was raised in Mohall, ND until her father’s passing and later went to be raised by the most loving Hubert & Marie Vanderberg  Family in Velva, ND. Between these two families, she leaves behind many siblings and Nieces and Nephews. Ramona Married the love of her life, Eugene in 1966.

Ramona, the most loving and devoted mother, and grandmother is survived by her children, Michael (LeAnn) of Williston ND and Michelle (Richard) Adams, WI; grandchildren, Taylor (Evan), Richard, Emily, and Alyssa; and great grandchildren Noah, Liam, and baby Milo.

Ramona spent years serving the community in many roles. As a ND farm girl and Truck Stop chef early in life, Ramona adored the farm, riding and showing horses. She went on to work as a seamstress, retiring in 2015.  After her divorce in 1998 she found her love of the Iris flower and served in varying leadership roles as a part of the Iris club, where she showed Iris’s and received awards.

Ramona was kind and outgoing, never shying away from sharing her horticulture knowledge and passion for nature and herbal medicine. She was stubborn and wild and wouldn’t hesitate to share her thoughts. She always put her family first.

Kindhearted in nature, Ramona would nurture the world and encourage all those around her to flourish. You would most likely find her with her rain boots on ready to jump in the mud any time of day and any place.

Gardening was her true passion. If you could find dirt, you would find Ramona growing something, and then dehydrating her harvest to improve her pantry. Way more interested to grow her own than to buy. Not afraid to research than to do what others do. Definitely not afraid to try something different because she was told she couldn’t.

Sewing was another skill that she flourished in for her entire life. Sewing for her children’s clothes to making dresses for her kid’s attendant’s weddings to ending with her famous “minky” blankets kept her busy. She also loved wrapping her stoned pendant jewelry.

Ramona was a truly great woman whose impact will be forever felt by her family that loves her dearly. She was a selfless woman whose passing leaves an unfillable gap in the heart of her loved ones. Her ability to sacrifice, support, and love will forever be engrained in all she knew.

True to Ramona’s wishes, there will not be a memorial service at this time. The family is planning celebration of her life/memorial this summer to spread Ramona’s ashes in the heart of North Dakota where she was born in the summer of 2023.
