Philip Hendrickson Obituary

Philip M. Hendrickson, 62 of Lake Mills, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at UW Hospital of Madison following a cardiac event.

Phil was born on April 8, 1961, in Detroit Lakes, MN, the son of Richard and Hilda (Kako) Hendrickson.  He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Menahga High School in 1979 and later attended Hennepin Tech, earning an associate degree as a diesel mechanic.   Phil developed his work ethic at an early age, and he loved anything with an engine! He had a passion for antique tractors and attended many tractor pulling events. His talent for being handy allowed Phil to make something special out of nothing. His garden has always been a source of joy and he was a talented woodworker. His children have fond memories of their dad taking them on skiing trips to Colorado and Alaska and being together outdoors. His quiet, gentle, and loving nature was appreciated by those who loved him, and he will be dearly missed.

Phil is survived by: his companion Cassie Becker of Lake Mills, WI; his children Kevin (Katriina) Hendrickson of Tuusula, Finland; Erica Hendrickson of Buffalo, MN; Ryan (Lacy) Hendrickson of Ham Lake, MN; Steven (Heidi) Hendrickson of Buffalo, MN; and Jackie Hendrickson of Buffalo, MN; 16 grandchildren; the mother of his children, Marcia Lehtola; siblings Edna Ylioja of Saskatchewan, Canada; Verna (Ken) Jacobson of Marquette, MI; Rich (Bonnie) Hendrickson of Buffalo, MN; John Hendrickson of Corcoran, MN; Alice (Clint) Makela of Prescott Valley, AZ; Doris (Pete) Kuopus of Ishpeming, MI; Dave Hendrickson of Corcoran,MN; Mark (Jane) Hendrickson of Longview, WA; Rod (Michelle) Hendrickson of Canton, OH; JoAnne Hendrickson of Ishpeming, MI; Kathy (Keith) Waaraniemi of Plymouth, MN; and Phil’s beloved dog Finley.  Phil is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Phil is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Hilda Hendrickson, granddaughter Alana Hendrickson (2016), his sister Esther Hendrickson, and in-laws Willard Ylioja and Vergene Hendrickson.
