Patricia Walters Obituary

Patricia Walters (nee Dassow)

Patricia Walters, age 78, passed away July 24, 2022, at her home surrounded by her husband, children, and grandchildren. She died after a 5+ year courageous battle against Multiple Systems Atrophy (MSA).

Patricia was born October 31, 1943 in St Cloud, Minnesota to John and Elsie (Steinmann) Dassow. We celebrate and honor a caring woman who we are so lucky to call our Mom and friend. She is the foundation of everything that we are.

In 1964, Mom was united in marriage to her best friend, Ken Walters. They have six children: Lorinda Walters Flores, Suzanne and John Reichert, Mike and Ronda Walters, Carrie and Jonathan Haberkorn, Joanne and Jason Burnham, and Barbara Walters.

Mom is survived by 13 grandchildren: Lucia, Lola, and Natalia Flores; Allison, Jacob, Emma, and Justin Reichert; Jesse Hockett, and Cristy (married to Dan) Zanto; David and Josephine Haberkorn; and Robbie and Addie Burnham. And three great grandchildren: Madyson Hilgen; and Melanie and Lana Zanto. Mom was one of nine children, all whom proceeded her in death: Marvin, Donna, David, John, Richard, Fred, Sandra, and Leon.

The above does not begin to honor her life. Mom encouraged us to be honest, follow God, and to strive for a better life. She taught us that family comes first. She was a great listener.

While living in Idaho, Mom was a pro-amateur bowler, and was the first female in Jefferson County, WI to bowl a 700-series. She enjoyed crafts, especially creating detailed ceramics. She was an accomplished quilter and built friendships around her quilting passion. She was also passionate about volunteering her time and talents at St Paul Ev Lutheran Church and School, and to the girls' softball community. Mom was an avid gardener, and enjoyed sewing, needlework, board games and cards, and cooked the best comfort food. She made baptismal gowns and blankets for her grandchildren. She was the heart of our family, the ever-guiding light. Mom was the champion of each of her children's whims, and always supported their life endeavors.

Mom may have gifted us a treasure trove of quilts and wall art, each made with beauty, precision, and love... but the real treasure she left exists in our stories, our memories, our favorite foods, our family jokes, and our family traditions.

Mom, you will remain in our hearts forever, and will be missed each and every day. We love you!
