Patricia E. Schoonover

Patricia Ellen (Jerg) Schoonover, 76, passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin on January 28, 2025 following a courageous battle with cancer. Pat was born December 12, 1948 in Janesville, Wisconsin.

Pat was the daughter of the late Alfred and Margaret (Fish) Jerg. She graduated from Janesville High School in 1966. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater after high school. Pat worked for many years at McCain’s in Fort Atkinson. For the last 12 years prior to her retirement she worked for Goble, Bender, Kind dental in Fort Atkinson.

Pat married Griffith Schoonover on July 20, 1968. Together they raised two children and enjoyed a life full of adventure and joy, especially when it involved their grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Griff, her children Kelly (Mike) Opperman and Rick (Laura) Schoonover; her grandchildren Maggie and Jack Opperman and Abigail, Josh and Cooper Schoonover; her brothers Jim and Phil (Karen) Jerg and nephews Aaron and Gavin Jerg.

Pat was preceded in death by her mother and father.  

A celebration of Pat’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Whitewater, the Jefferson County Cancer Coalition or Rainbow Hospice of Jefferson County.

And He will raise you up on eagle’s wings. Bear you on the breath of dawn. Make you to shine like the sun and hold you in the palm of His hand.
