Mary A. Jensen, 82 of Jefferson, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025, at Alden Estates of Jefferson.

Mary was born May 27, 1942, in Bartlett, IL, the daughter of Lawrence and Irene (Hansen) Jensen.  In the early 1950’s, the family purchased their farm in Helenville, WI and Mary grew up in the area.  She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1960, earned a Bachelor of Science in Teaching from Whitewater State University (now UW-W) in 1965, and a Master of Science and Teaching from UW-Whitewater in 1975.  She began teaching 4th grade at Prospect Hill Elementary in New Berlin in the fall of 1965 and dedicated her working years there, retiring after 41 years.  Mary had a passion for gardening, had a long-term and dedicated involvement in 4-H, and always looked forward to attending her niece’s and nephew’s events.  She was a very active member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Rome – teaching Sunday School Classes and volunteering in the office and was president of many agricultural and civic organizations.  Mary will be remembered for her generosity, strong spirit, and her willingness to serve where she was needed.

She is survived by: her siblings Kathryn Jensen, Linda (Robert) Dempski, Maragaret (Fred) Heth, Larry (Pam) Jensen, and Jean (Jim) Lemke; nieces and nephews Ann, Cara, Ryan (Amy), Amanda (Nate), Lucas (Molly), Amber (Jesse), Elizabeth (Chad), and Phillip (Kaitlyn).  Mary is also survived by a number of other family members, her church family and friends.

Her parents have preceded her in death.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Rome.  Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00AM until the time of service at the church.  She will be laid to rest a St. Luke’s Cemetery following the service.
