Lowell R. Halverson, 87 of Oregon, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024, at Alden Estates of Jefferson, Wisconsin.

Lowell was born on May 27, 1936, in Saint James, MN, the son of Robert and Elvera (Olson) Halverson. He graduated from Patrick Henry High School in Minneapolis. He earned his teaching degree from Winona State University and completed several credits toward a Master’s in Counseling Psychology.

Lowell married Donna Olson in November 1959.  They enjoyed traveling, working on Rosemaling projects and hosting friends and family. On July 26, 2003, he married Kristy Smith at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Madison. They enjoyed dancing, going to Opera in the Park, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Lowell taught high school social studies for several years and was in sales.  He had a wonderful sense of humor, was creative and was quietly compassionate.

He is survived by: his wife Kristy Halverson of Oregon; children Brian (Cindy) Halverson of Hartland, Brent (Kelly) Halverson of Milwaukee, Martin (Michelle) Alstad of Oregon, and Jessica (Ben) Pruess of Las Vegas, NV; and his 8 grandchildren Madeleine, Eliza, Ariana, Ashley,

Lucas, Riley, Cooper, and Samuel. Lowell is also survived by several other family members and friends.

Lowell is preceded in death by his parents, wife Donna, and siblings Dorothy White and Donald Halverson.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday May 9th at People’s United Methodist Church in Oregon, Wisconsin with Reverend John Norquist presiding. Visitation will be on Thursday May 9th from 9 until the beginning of the service at the church.

There will be Military Honors after the service, then a reception at the church to follow.
