Lon J. Otto, 71 of Johnson Creek, passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at the home of his daughter.
Lon was born on September 16, 1949 in Milwaukee, WI, the son of Joseph and Florence (Panfil) Otto. He graduated from Notre Dame University High School in Milwaukee in 1967. On April 19, 1974, he married June Zubarik in West Allis, WI and the couple raised 7 children together. Lon was in the grocery business for many years, working most of them with the Kohl’s chain. Grocery is an industry that takes a special skill set and he excelled in it. The family enjoyed many camping trips together and visited many state parks. Times spent on the golf course were enjoyed by all participants. Lon and June had a heart for kids in need and were foster parents for 17 years. Lon loved everything to do with cars. He bought them, sold them, raced them, and thought about them often. He was known to buy a new car every year, despite the objection of his wife. Lon’s kids are thankful for his love and commitment to them, for his strong work ethic, and for showing them the importance of the Catholic faith. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by: his son John (Kristin) Otto of Richmond, KY, son Brian (Jessica) Otto of Hubbleton, WI, daughter Karen (Toy) Otto of Milwaukee, WI, daughter Dawn (Nick) Brown of Johnson Creek, WI, son Regis Otto of Madison, WI, son TJ Otto of Steamboat Springs, CO, daughter Amina Otto of Watertown, WI; 10 grandchildren Jonathon, Selena, Michael, Joel, Kayla, Brook, Jayden, Josephine, Nolan, and Blake; sister Faith (Howie) Jeanson of Hartford, WI, brother Marshall Otto of Hales Corners, WI; his former spouse of 36 years June Otto of Jefferson, WI. Lon is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Otto and brother Robbie Otto.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, June 18, 2021 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Jefferson with Fr. Tom Coyle presiding. Visitation will be on Friday from 10:00AM until the time of service at the church.
