Linda R. Abendroth, 79 of Fort Atkinson, passed away at The View in Johnson Creek on January 28, 2025.
Linda was born on February 23, 1945, in Woodstock, IL the daughter of Raymond and Irene (Norton) Houghton. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1963 and married Lee Abendroth on July 18, 1970, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Atkinson. The couple enjoyed 54 years of marriage and had 4 children.
Linda alongside her husband Lee devoted her life to agriculture. Linda worked at Sears and Nasco in Fort Atkinson. Linda was a dairy farmer in the area for many years. She could be found in the barn milking cows 2 times every day and helped keep the farm operating all while raising their children. She had a deep love for cows with Jerseys being her favorite. She was an active member for many years in the Jefferson FFA Alumni helping many youth work towards their goals and dreams. Linda and Lee would enjoy bus trips with the senior center when there was free time.
She is survived by: her husband Lee Abendroth of Fort Atkinson; children Tamara (Matt) Hollman of Columbus, Gregory (Tricia) Abendroth of Fort Atkinson, Rebecca (Abel) Abendroth Garcia of Fort Atkinson, and Michael (Becky Bohn) Abendroth of Jefferson; 6 grandchildren Brittany (Jessie), Samantha, Onika, Katelyn, Robyn, and Brennen; 3 great-grandchildren Ethann, Jackson, and Aria; siblings Claudia (Roger) Sonnenberg of Farmington, Dennis Houghton of Waterloo, and Geraldine (Ed) Burt of Fort Atkinson; and the “Kitty Grands”; many other relatives and other friends.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service will be held on February 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church of Fort Atkinson with Revs. Linda and Loren Schumacher presiding. Visitation will be on February 5, 2025 from 4-6 p.m. and on February 6, 2025 from 10 a.m. until the time of service. There will be a luncheon following the service. Friends and relatives are invited to the burial following the luncheon. She will be buried at Union Cemetery of Jefferson.
