Leroy C. Slagle, 84 of Fort Atkinson, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at his home.
Leroy was born on September 17, 1940, in Park Falls, WI, the son of Truman and Lucile (McNickols) Slagle. He grew up in Northern Wisconsin and was raised by his older sister, her husband, and their 15 children. On December 30, 1966, he married Janet Kent in Salem, OR, after the couple had met while living in Johnson Creek, WI. The couple lived in Oregon for 4 years before settling in the Fort Atkinson area. Leroy was employed at UW-Whitewater for 22 years as a custodian and took great pride in never taking a sick day. He loved watching and following the Bucks, Brewers, and VIKINGS!! Leroy had a kind spirit and warm smile and never missed the opportunity to make a friend. Above all else, Leroy loved his family dearly and supported them throughout their lives. He will be missed.
Leroy is survived by: his wife Janet Slagle of Fort Atkinson; 2 granddaughters Amanda Zimmerman and Tiffany Zimmerman; 4 great-grandchildren Colin, Christina, Chase, and AJ; and 1 great, great-grandchild on the way; as well as his siblings Cecilia Sampson and Byron Slagle. He is also survived by a number of other family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Roxanne Zimmerman (2018), his siblings, and other family members.
A celebration of Leroy’s life will be held in spring of 2025.
