Leroy W. Gronert, Sr.

Leroy W. Gronert, Sr., of Fort Atkinson, died on Monday, November 2, 2020 at Fort Atkinson Healthcare Center.

Leroy was born on June 28, 1933 in Watertown, WI, the son of Elmer and Leona (Beske) Gronert.  Leroy attended school in Watertown and joined the US Army in 1953.  On February 14, 1956, he married Marilyn Heine in Dubuque, IA.  The couple had two children and enjoyed 24 years of marriage until her death in 1980.  Leroy owned Gronert’s Auto Salvage in Helenville for many years.  Camping, fishing, and playing cards were favorite pastimes.  He was an active member of Ebenezer Moravian Church for many years.

Leroy is survived by: his children Leroy (Loretta) Gronert, Jr. of Jefferson, and Marilyn (Ed) Neugent of St. Charles, MO; grandchildren Jasper (Carrie) Gronert, Jessica (Jason) Thoma, Emily Gronert, Airika Neugent, and Neal Neugent; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters Alice (Doug) Stoltenburg and Barbara Morgan, both of Watertown.  Leroy is also survived by a number of other relatives.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Marilyn, sister Geraldine Meyer, and other relatives.

A private graveside service will be held at Ebenezer Moravian Cemetery of Watertown.
