Kathryn A. Burke, 81 of Jefferson, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Jefferson Memory Care.
Kathryn was born on October 23, 1942, in Watertown, WI, the daughter of Marvin and Ruth (Hacht) Lederer. She grew up in Jefferson and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1962. She attended and graduated from the Cradle School of Infant Nursing of Evanston, IL in 1963, and used her degree in the maternity word of Lufkin Hospital, Lufkin, TX. She married while in Texas and the couple had 5 children, but later divorced. She was an avid Packer fan and enjoyed western movies, especially ones staring John Wayne. Her children took her on many vacations, and she enjoyed every one of them. Her grandchildren were cherished, and she would often take them to get ice cream, but Kathryn only ate vanilla. She was a talented seamstress, making matching dresses for her daughter and comforters for her family and friends. Kathryn was generous with her finances and donated to many charities. She loved her cats, but spending time with her grandchildren was of utmost importance. She was a long-time member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church and her family is comforted knowing that she rests in Heaven.
Kathryn is survived by: her children Glen Burke of Houston, TX, Kevin Burke of Monroe, Tricia (Ron) Rosga of McHenry, IL, Jennifer (Randy) Meixner of Jefferson, and Jimmy (Nancy) Burke of Colorado Spring, CO.; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings Nola Laws of Amston, CT and David Lederer of Watertown; and brother-in-law Roger Smith of Fort Atkinson. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings Charles, Rober, Paul Lederer, and Nancy Smith, as well as other family members.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00PM on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church of Jefferson with Rev. Joshua Martin presiding. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00AM until the time of service at the church. She will be buried at Christberg Cemetery following the service.
