Obituary

Judith Ann Torgerson, 77, a lifelong resident of Fort Atkinson was welcomed home to her eternal resting place on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, by her savior Jesus Christ after a long and rewarding life.

She was born on February 6, 1946, in Fort Atkinson, daughter of William and Virginia “Bunny” (Justman) Ponyicsanyi and sister to Michael Ponyicsanyi.  Judy attended eight years at St. Paul’s Lutheran School of Fort Atkinson. She graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in 1964 and attended the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh. On May 4, 1968, she married the love of her life Robert A. Torgerson of Jefferson, WI and they spent 28 wonderful years enjoying life together before his sudden death in June of 1996. Over the years Judy had volunteered her time to serve her community and church. Her special interests were cards, swimming, collecting antiques, making crafts, and spending time with her family and friends.

Judy lived life to the fullest and influenced lives with her humor and spirituality. She always felt she was rich, not monetarily, but friendship wise, and thanked the Lord daily for all the wonderful people in her life.

She was particularly proud of her family who brought special joy to her life and played an active role in their lives. She is survived by her two children, Mandy (Brian) Wagie of Jefferson, WI and John (Jessie Buckman) Torgerson of Oregon, WI, her grandchildren Bryce and Karli Wagie, Ian and, Addison Torgerson, and her special “adopted granddaughter” Sammie Meister.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother.

Her last wishes were to express her love for her family and friends and thank them for making her life more enjoyable than one could ever expect. May some of these memories now become your treasures.

A celebration of life will be on August 19, 2023 from 4:00PM - 9:00PM at the American Legion Dugout located at 201 S. Water St. Fort Atkinson, WI 53538.

The family would like to express a heart-felt thank you the staff of Rainbow Hospice Care, especially Nurse Lauren, for the loving and dedicated care provided to Judy.  Also a very special thank you to Micah Fromader & Keri Wagie, Todd & Dawn Weist, Lance & Diane Heitz, Tom & Connie Torgerson, Monica Ponyicsanyi, Stella Ann Hallet, and Dar Hedrick for all the help, as it meant the world to Judy to have you in her presence.
