Joseph H. “Joe” Gleisner, 72 of Jefferson, died June 12, 2023, at his home.
Joe was born on September 22, 1950, in Tomahawk, WI, the son of Lloyd and Geraldine (Fehringer) Gleisner. The family moved to Jefferson when he was a young boy, and he is a 1968 graduate of Jefferson High School. Joe married Kathrine “Kathy” Stauffer in 1970 and the couple had 3 children. Even though they later divorced, the couple remained dedicated to their kids. Joe worked as a Plumber most of his working years and had the ability to fix anything. Joe worked for Schaefer Soft Water in Jefferson for almost ten years; then in the early 1980’s, Joe co-owned and operated Gleisner Water Care in Jefferson; in the 1990’s Joe went to work for Luedtke Plumbing in Jefferson.
Joe was very generous with his time and talents and was always the first to stop what he was doing to lend a hand. Joe enjoyed many different hobbies. He loved the outdoors and would often reminisce about his trip to the Boundary Waters; time spent in the woods, hunting, was time cherished. He enjoyed any kind of trivia and playing Cribbage, Euchre or Sheepshead. Joe loved a night out shooting pool and darts. Yet he was just as comfortable performing in a play sponsored by the Jefferson CPA. He participated in old-timers wrestling, a round of golf and bowling back when his body allowed, and he really liked to tinker with broken items until they were unfixable. Joe was a loyal friend, a hard worker, and a loving uncle, brother, son, father, grandpa, and great grandpa. Joe Loved his family. He looked forward to every family reunion and sibling get-together. He was so proud of his grandchildren and was so full of joy to be a great grandpa.
He is survived by: his children Tina (Ed) Gleisner-Hotter of Jefferson, Lloyd (Jody) Gleisner of Jefferson, and Tara (Dan) Gleisner-Rocque of Gurnee, IL; 12 grandchildren Alyssa (Nate) Hotter of Sullivan, Ashley (Josh) Hotter De Meio of Eagle, Courtney and Hailey Hotter of Jefferson, Megan, Andrew and Tyler Gleisner of Jefferson, Josh, Maddy, Ben, Sam, and Emma Rocque of Gurnee, IL; great-grandchildren Maeve and Avery Froelich of Sullivan, and Kampbell De Meio of Eagle; sisters Kathy Null, Monica (Ron) Krause, and Barbara (Roger) DeMoe, all of Jefferson, Carolyn (Don) Krause of Fort Atkinson, Alice McGinnis of Cross Plains, and Veronica (Joel) Petty of Baraboo; and important friends Bonnie Sonnenberg, her daughter Gwyn (Matt) Radtke, and their daughter Lorelie, all of Madison. Joe is also survived by a number of other relatives and friends.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Raymond and Roland Gleisner and infant sister Mary Lou Gleisner and nephew Billy Gleisner.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at a later date.
