Jon T. Speckmann

Jon T. Speckmann, 65 of Jefferson, passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Alden Estates of Jefferson.

Jon was born on June 2, 1958, in Madison, WI, the son of George and Germaine (Molitor) Speckmann.  He graduated from Madison West High School in 1976 and later earned an associate degree from MATC, using his GI Bill benefit. Jon served his country in the US Army on active duty from 1976 to 1980 and as a reservist from 1980 until 1997. He was employed as a Procurement Analyst at Frontier Communication for over a decade. Jon was an avid WWII buff and learned all he could on the subject. He watched many war movies; however Robin Williams’ movies were also a favorite. Jon cherished the time spent with his grandchildren. Jon Thomas Speckmann will be remembered for his willingness to work hard and live his life with discipline and honor. He took a lot of pride in his faith.

He is survived by: his children Alexandrea (Ismael) Speckmann-Ramirez of Sun Prairie and Nicholas (Melanie) Moorehill of Waunakee; grandchildren Enrique and Isabella; and 5 sisters Mary Volk of Madison, Georgene Marks of Omaha, NE, Jane (Al) Rabin of Waunakee, Karel (Wayne) Grafton of Eastanolle, GA, and Suzanne Missureli of Madison. Jon is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Terry, Pete and Steve Speckmann.

The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the staff of Alden Estates and Rainbow Hospice for the care provided.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at St. Albert Catholic Church of Sun Prairie with Fr. Vincent Brewer presiding.  A visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00AM until the time of service at the church. Jon’s favorite refreshments will be served during a short reception following the Mass.
