Johnas W. "Joey" Schoonover

Johnas W. “Joey” Schoonover, 42 of Fort Atkinson, WI, died on Monday, November 6, 2023, at Fort Atkinson Hospital.

Joey was born on May 29, 1981, in Watertown, WI, the son of Steven and Connie (Zunker) Schoonover.  He graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in 1999 and worked at a variety of local businesses, most recently Generac.  Joey loved being outdoors.  He spent many hours fishing in local bodies of water and spending time on his boat.  When he lived with his dad, Joey took great pride in maintaining the lawn.  His musical interests ranged from TOOL to Metallica to Tracy Chapman.  Joey is described as a “conspiracy nut” and a tree hugger.  Although he struggled, he cared for his family dearly and he will be missed.

He is survived by: his father Steven Schoonover; sister Stephanie (Jason Pick) Schoonover; guardians and friends Demetrius and Cassandra Samuels; and his nieces Kaydence Kincaid and Emma Schoonover, nephews Jayden Lindberg, other relatives and friends.

Joey is preceded in death by his mother, brother Steven, cousins Donald Samuels and Shawna Turley, and other family members.

An open-house in Joey’s honor will be held from 3:00PM – 6:00PM on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at the Olsen-Gibson Funeral Home in Jefferson.
