John F. Tolan, Jr.

John F. Tolan, Jr., 63 of Jefferson, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Sunset Ridge Memory Care of Jefferson.

John was born on October 31, 1958 in Fort Atkinson, WI the son of John and Geraldine (Peterson) Tolan, Sr.  He graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in 1977 and on October 10, 1981, married Donna Kanzenbach at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church of Jefferson.  The couple had a son, Bryan and enjoyed 25 years of marriage until her death in 2007.   John was a long-time and dedicated member of St. John’s and served on the Outreach Committee after Donna died.  He was a bowler and was a huge “Car Guy”!  John loved all things automotive and worked in the industry for about 30 years. He was a serious racing fan and Saturday nights were spent at local tracks cheering on his favorite drivers.  John and Donna even traveled to a NASCAR race in Michigan and treasured their trips to Jamaica 13 years in a row.  Above all else, John was dedicated to his family and time spent together were times cherished.

He is survived by: his son Bryan (Tricia) Tolan of Oconomowoc; siblings Sandy (Terry) McKinney of Johnson Creek and Connie (Tom) Torgerson of Fort Atkinson; mother-in-law Doris Kanzenbach of Jefferson, and sister-in-law Dawn (Rick) Schauss of Eau Claire.  John is also survived by a number of nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.

John is preceded in death by: his parents, wife, sister Mary Ann Clavey, and father-in-law Donald Kanzenbach.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00PM on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church of Jefferson with Rev. Matthew Krenke and Rev. Mark Bartsch presiding.  Visitation will be on Thursday from 10:00AM until the time of service at the church.  John will be buried at Christberg Cemetery following the service.

As per John's request, casual dress would be preferred.
