John Hinz Obituary

John W. Hinz, 17 of Helenville, died on Friday, September 23, 2022, at UW-Hospital of Madison.

John was born on October 28, 2004, in Oconomowoc, WI, the son of David and Susan (Roth) Hinz.  He lived in Helenville and attended school in the Jefferson School district.  John loved animals and especially his dog, 2 ferrets, and his ducks and geese.  He loved to be outside and enjoyed skateboarding.  John experimented with many musical instruments. His most recent interest was science related horticulture and gardening.  John loved to learn about and try new things.  He was a hands-on learner and never shied away from interesting or even dangerous situations.  Skydiving was a passion.  John suffered from a seizure disorder and survived multiple invasive brain surgeries.  He was a brave kid who, despite difficulty in his short life, loved his family dearly and will be missed.

John is survived by: his paternal grandparents Ron and Nancy Hinz of Helenville, maternal grandmother Sharon Roth of Helenville; parents David and Susan Hinz of Helenville; sister Natalie (Cole Kaminski) Hinz of Cambridge; aunts and uncles Ann (Vernon) Hamaker of Fargo, OK, Dan (Sue) Roth of Jefferson, and Jim (Tammy) Roth of Helenville; cousins Amanda (Emmett), Stephanie (Craig), Ike (Gretchen), Alexis, Cory (Abby), Ty (Emma), and Nathan (Taylor); family friend Joey (Zoe Barrett) Vogt.  He is also survived by a number of other relatives and friends.

John is preceded in death by his grandfather Wayne Roth.

Memorial in John’s name to the St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran School Building Fund would be greatly appreciated.

A private family service will be held at the Olsen-Gibson Funeral Home with Rev. Titus Buelow presiding. John’s body will be laid to rest at St. Peter’s Evergreen Cemetery of Helenville.
