Jill R. Hoebbel, 66 of Watertown, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2026, at the Rainbow Hospice Interpatient Center in Johnson Creek.
On December 20, 1959, Robert and Inez (Watling) Duren had a baby girl and named her Jill Renee. Born in the family’s home town of Greenfield, WI, Jill attended grammar school in the area, graduated from Greenfield High School in 1978, and earned a B. S. in Interior Design from UW-Stout in 1983. While at Stout, Jill met Donald Hoebbel and the couple was married on June 2, 1984, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Greenfield. The couple had a daughter, Robin, and Jill went on to earn a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from UW-Whitewater in 2005.
Jill worked at multiple retail jobs throughout her life, but her passion was educating and preparing children for a productive future. She was a preschool teacher at Gingerbread in Watertown for many years and a longtime and dependable substitute teacher in the Hustisford School District. Jill had many hobbies including reading, fishing, cooking, gardening, sewing, crafts (many kinds), traveling (Canada-United States-Mexico-Caribbean). She was very interested in history and historical sites and museums. She explored state and national parks. Jill loved teaching young children and was very interested in environmental issues. She looked forward to NASCAR races where she could cheer for number 22. Jill was a competitive game player with family and friends. Jill was a person who cared deeply for others and loved her family dearly. She looked for opportunities for adventure, was open to new experiences, and was sure in her decisions. Jill was a lifelong learner, committed caregiver, wonderful wife and mother, and will be missed dearly.
