Janet M. Cowley 82 Jefferson, died Sunday March 15, 2026 peacefully at Alden Estates of Jefferson. 

She was born November 30, 1943 in Watertown WI. The daughter of Emil and Mae (Harris) Kasten. She attended Aztalan Country School through Lake Mills High School. She married Robert (Bob) Cowley October 27, 1969.

Janet worked at her family business The MileAway before moving on to Hamlin's. She then found her “Calling” job at Countryside for over 25 years til her Rheumatoid arthritis forced her to retire. She was very compassionate and enjoyed making her residents as comfortable and loved as possible, during their final time there. She made so many lifelong friends while at Countryside. Several were still visiting days leading up to her passing. Thank you Lori, Janet and Kathy. Our mom loved your visits and your long lasting friendships. 

She was blessed with many great neighbors. She had 3 Angels that were ALWAYS there for her. Marian, Carolyn and Krissy you were all incredible friends. One, or more of them would come over daily, to visit and more recently to look over and visit with her. She looked so forward to your daily visits. We knew not to call from 4-5pm.

 If you visited Janet, there’s a good chance weather permitting. She’d be sitting on her front porch. She loved sitting there. Her and her “Porch Buddies” as she called them. Bragged that they solved a lot of world problems over the past almost 50 years.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church but also attended St. Mark’s in Jefferson. Special thank you to both of them for the continued letters of support and prayers for her. 

She is survived by her 2 sons. Jason (Angie) Cowley, Jared (Danielle) Cowley

Her 5 grandchildren, Ashley (Matthias) Eiserman, Jacob Cowley, Alyssa Cowley, Leighton Cowley, and Maliyah Cowley. She also was blessed with 2 great grandchildren, Lucy and Norah. 

She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Bob, her Twin Sister Joyce and an older sister that passed as a baby. 

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00pm

Trinity Luthern Church, 346 W Pine St. Lake Mills WI

Visitation: 10:30 until time of service

Olsen-Gibson Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Our family would like to extend a Huge Enormous Thank You to her care team over the last 30 years, Rainbow Hospice especially Sarah and Kathy, Alden Estates entire team but an extra special thank you to her Angel & Buddies, Diona, Gloria and Tracey. Lastly, thank you to Carolyn Niebler. Words can’t describe our families eternal gratitude for everything you did for our mother and us.
