Hope E. Conkle, 78 of Jefferson, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Alden Estates of Jefferson.

Hope was born on November 26, 1945, in Georgia, the daughter of John and Vinnia (Tyson) Pope.  She grew up in Georgia, graduating from Dunn High School and earning her teaching degree from Southeastern Bible College of Lakeland, FL.  Hope met Byron Conkle while he was serving in the US Army, stationed at a nearby base.  The couple were married on July 19, 1980, in Fayetteville, NC and enjoyed 41 years of marriage until his death in 2021.  Hope and Byron loved to travel.  They visited many places throughout Europe and Hope traveled with her husband, wherever the Army sent him.  Hope was the longtime secretary at Loeb Industries in Watertown, until the business downsized.  Hope was a cat person and loved many feline pets over the years.  She was a lady of high intellect, who was calm, enjoyed keeping to herself, and was admired by many.

She is survived by: her siblings Wayne Pope of Geogia and Barbara Harrison of Virginia; in-laws Sherry Green and Gary Conkle both of Jefferson; and her nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and caregivers.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 4 brothers.
