George M. Thomas, 64 of Jefferson, passed away on Friday, September 3, 2021, at the Dower House of St. Coletta in Jefferson, WI.
George was born on May 5, 1957, in Evanston, IL, the youngest son of John and Ellen Jean (Groth) Thomas. George grew up in the northern Chicago suburbs, living with family until his parents’ death. At the age of 30, George moved to St. Coletta in Jefferson, where he was a valued and thriving community member. George was a 30 plus year athlete with the Special Olympics of Wisconsin and participated in many different events. His interests were diverse. He loved art and began drawing and painted as a small child. Mealtime was always looked forward to and George enjoyed outdoor jobs such as raking leaves and shoveling snow. He was known as a happy person and was easy to get along with. His family loved him dearly and he will be missed both by them and his community at St. Coletta.
He is survived by: his brothers David Thomas of Lake Bluff, IL, J. Patrick (Barbara) Thomas of Glenview, IL, and Timothy (Carol) Thomas of St. Augustine, FL; 11 nieces and nephew; and other relatives and friends.
