Obituary

Eunice M. Doebereiner, 95, of Jefferson, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at The View at Johnson Creek.

Eunice was born on November 13, 1927, at home in Helenville, WI, the daughter of Elmer and Leonora (Palm) Waldmann.  She graduated from Johnson Creek High School in 1945 and married Franklin Doebereiner on September 20, 1947, at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Helenville.  The couple enjoyed 55 years of marriage, until his death in 2002.  Eunice and Frankie enjoyed being together.  They loved camping, traveling, and attending generations of family sporting events.  Eunice was an avid reader, talented seamstress, dedicated gardener, loving baker and cook, and the home plate umpire in many a backyard baseball game.  She never drove a car and walked everywhere she went, even into her 80s. She was very generous with her time and talent, volunteering at Twice is Nice, many blood drives, Grace Note’s nanny, at the St. John’s School Library, and as a member of the VFW.  She was a longtime and active member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church and her family is thankful that she is resting in Heaven.  She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by: her children, Denise (Gary) Gerondale of Cecil, Vicki (Rick) Schuyler of Johnson Creek, and Robert (Joan) Doebereiner of Jefferson; grandchildren, Mindy (Jim) Huemmer, Brady (Lisa) Schuyler, Jeremy (Kerri) Schuyler, Danielle Frey, Kevin (Rebecca) Doebereiner, and Daniel (Sarah) Doebereiner; great-grandchildren, Max, Morgan, Maggie, Sam, Jack, Riley, Chase, Fern, Jasper, Rosalyn, Alex, Siena, Mags, and Hazel; sister Ruby Betschler of Helenville; sister-in-law Judy Waldmann of Jefferson; brother-in-law David Doebereiner of Jefferson.  She is also survived by a number of other family members and friends.

Eunice is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, grandson Derek Gerondale (2003), brothers Royal and Elmer Waldmann, her sister Lucille Hans, and other family members.

The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the caregivers at The View and Rainbow Hospice.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church of Jefferson with Rev. Joshua Martin presiding.  Visitation will be on Wednesday evening from 5:00PM – 7:00PM at the Olsen-Gibson Funeral Home and on Thursday from 10:00AM until the time of service at the church.  Eunice will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery following the funeral.
