Edward L. Schutten, 84 of Helenville, died on Monday, August 6, 2018 at his home.

Ed was born on December 13, 1933 in Milwaukee, WI the son of Herman and Petronella (Thelen) Schutten.  He is a graduate of Jefferson High School and served in the US Army from 1954-1955.   On September 28, 1957, he married Betty Lucht at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Sullivan and the couple enjoyed 60 years of marriage until her death in 2017.  Ed worked at the Friskies for 41 years, retiring in 1998.  Ed loved animals.  He enjoyed watching wildlife at his home in Helenville and spending time with his animals.  The family remembers that the dogs and cats always had the same names - “Fee-Fee” and “Cat”.  Ed enjoyed cooking the family meals and eating sweets.  In his younger years, he enjoyed playing cards and was a talented mechanic.  He was a great father and his children are comforted knowing he is now at rest.
