Doreen Kay Weis Obituary
Doreen Kay Weis, 65 of Waukesha, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2024, at her home.
Doreen was born on August 17, 1958, in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Wallace and Ruth (Hart) Van Duser. She grew up in the Milwaukee area and attended school there. In her early 20’s, she married and had three children, Janice, Jim, and Mike. During her working years, her jobs included daycare provider, hospitality worker, and a CNA. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, hunting, camping, swimming, waterskiing, travel – especially family trips to Bayfield, and playing bingo with her good friend Kim. She was an honorary member of the Ojibwa Bowhunters Club in New Berlin. Doreen cherished all time with her family, including Weis family gatherings. Above all other interests, Doreen found her inspiration within the genuine love she had for her children and grandchildren. Her most treasured moments included watching her grandchildren grow and participate in their activities, such as zoo trips, dance, baseball, soccer, and basketball. She is remembered for her compassionate and dedicated care she provided for her parents. She was a strong person, both physically and emotionally, and maintained an optimistic outlook following her difficult diagnosis. She was committed to her health and was an active participant in many fundraising walks and other cancer-related activities. Her family is thankful for her adventurous spirit, bravery, and lasting legacy.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff of the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic – Summit, especially Dr. Knouse and his team, as well as Pro-Health Hospice for their warmth, care, and compassion during Doreen’s challenging battle.
She is survived by: her father Wallace Van Duser of Waukesha; children Janice (Jim) Roberts of Kaukauna, Jim (Lisa Michel-Weis) Weis of Waukesha, and Mike Weis of Watertown; grandchildren Monty, Amelia, Vivian, and Josephine; siblings Rob (Robin) Van Duser of Hortonville and Randy (Kathy) Van Duser of Watertown; and dear family friends Kim (Jim) Niebuhr of West Allis and Dorothy Rynders of New Berlin. Doreen is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother Ruth, in 2022.
A private family service will be held.
