Donald W. Hoffman, age 97 of Jefferson, died January 30, 2025, at Sunset Ridge Jefferson, WI.

Donald W. Hoffman was born in Helenville, WI on September 16, 1927, to Benjamin and Elsa (Hoffman) Hoffman. He was baptized, confirmed, and married at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Helenville. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1945. He served in the military from 1946-1947 as a U.S. Army Bandsman. He graduated from Milton College in 1950 with a BS in Math Education. His teaching career began in the Rio, WI, high school from 1950-1957 and continued from 1957-1983 at the Jefferson, WI high school. In addition to teaching instrumental music, he played in several bands and dance bands for many years. His first marriage resulted in three sons: Alan (Christine), Keith (Sandra), and Brian (Angela). His second marriage to Dorothy Schultz began in 1976 and ended with her death in 2012. Those 36 years included the enjoyment of a wonderful extended family and many occasions to travel.

Surviving are two sons, Keith (Sandra) and Brian (Angela) of Jefferson, two stepsons Chuck (Lucy) Schultz of Jefferson and Rob (Sue) Schultz of Georgia, one step-daughter Christine Wahlquist of Maryland, four grandsons Mason Hoffman and Cory, Lucas, and Troy Schultz, nine granddaughters Lindsay Kennedy, Morgan Holzer, Emily Frier, Natalie Briscoe, Abigail Orshefsky, Heidi Halbur, Kathryn Graves, Erica Davis, and Kristin Booton, and many great grandchildren.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy, and son Alan. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Agrace Hospice. 

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 7, 2025, at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Jefferson with Rev. Peter Kesting presiding. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Don will be laid to rest at St. Peter’s Evergreen Cemetery in Helenville following the service.
