Donald V. "Don" Biwer

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Don Biwer, 86 of Jefferson who died peacefully on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Sunset Ridge Assisted Living.

Don was born on June 18, 1940, in Watertown, WI, the only child of Ray and Mildred (Lipkie) Biwer. Don graduated from Jefferson High School in 1958. He pursued higher education at St. Norbert’s College and served his country with honor in the National Guard.

On August 3, 1963, he married Sharon Lang at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Jefferson. The couple had 2 children and enjoyed 27 years of marriage until her death on July 29, 1990. On November 27, 1998, Don was wed to Marilyn Haferman at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Jefferson.

His dedication and commitment were evident in all facets of his life, particularly in his passion for sports. A true sports enthusiast, he was a fervent supporter of the Chicago Cubs, Green Bay Packers, and Wisconsin Badgers. His enthusiasm led him to coach little league baseball in the 1970s, manage the Jefferson Blue Devils from the early 80s through 1998, and later returned to coaching little league. Developing and encouraging young players was a passion of Don’s throughout his life. Seeing former players succeed at the next level, but especially in life, brought Don great pleasure and lasting joy.

Don was also a meticulous collector of sports memorabilia and a dedicated photographer. He captured countless memories, ensuring that every special moment was preserved in his cherished scrapbooks. His ability to celebrate life's milestones with these books brought joy to all who knew him.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 27 years, Marilyn Biwer; children, Becky (Scott) Whiting of Cambridge and Brett (Kristin) Biwer of Lake Geneva; Stepchildren Gerald (Lisa) Gnabasik of Helenville, Greg (Sherry) Gnabasik of Jefferson, Kris (Dale) Arneson of Janesville, and Deb (Tim) Corcoran of Janesville. Don was a proud grandfather to Bailey (Cameron)Whiting-Warne, Bella (Tucker)Biwer-Stone, and Brooke (Noah)Whiting-Furseth and also leaves behind 8 step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren. Don is also survived by other family members, former players, and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and first wife Sharon.

The family would like to express a sincere thank you to the staff of Sunset Ridge and Agrace Hospice for the loving care and support provided to Don.

A Christian funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, July 20, 2026, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church 232 E.Church St Jefferson, WI 53549 with Rev. Peter Kesting presiding. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 19, 2026, from 4:00PM – 6:00PM and Monday, July 20, 2026, from 9:00AM until the time of service, both at the church. He will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery of Jefferson following the funeral.
