Deanne M. Fischer Obituary

Deanne M. “Dee” Fischer, 85 of Beloit, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at her daughter’s home in Johnson Creek, surrounded by family.

Dee was born on December 9, 1938, in Clinton, IN, the daughter of Eli and Alta (Howe) Chialda. She graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1956 and married Gerald Fischer on July 4, 1959, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beloit.  The couple had 2 children and enjoyed 50 years until his death in June of 2010.  Dee’s interests, work experience, and volunteerism were vast.  She worked as a bookkeeper for the Beloit Boys and Girls Club, a job she did for many years and one that she loved dearly.  Later in life, she owned and operated a floral business where she made all sorts of dry arrangements, selling them both at her shop in South Beloit and at various craft fairs near and far.  She was a long-time volunteer at the Beloit Civic Theatre, after having a critical eye for the on-stage makeup job during a high school rendition of “Sweet Charity”.  While at the theatre, her tasks included stagehand, makeup artist, costume designer, and quick-change specialist!  The theatre company relied on Dee’s dedication and willingness to do whatever job needed to be done.  She also worked as an assistant manager at Blue Suede Shoes, a Rockford, IL hot spot during the 1980’s.  Dee will be remembered for her love, generosity, and happy spirit.  She was always willing to help, loved everyone (and everyone loved her!), and was dedicated to the betterment of others.  She was a neat lady with a wide range of talents and interests who will be missed.

She is survived by: her children Cary Fischer of Beloit and Crystal (Richard Rattinger) Fischer of Johnson Creek; grandchildren Kevin, Kory (Kristen), and Kyle; 5 great-grandchildren; and other family members.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her siblings Eli Chialda and Stella Oakley.

If desired, donations in Dee’s name to the Beloit Civic Theatre would be appreciated.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024  from 1:00PM - 4:00PM at the 1st Congregational Church (801 Bushnell St. Beloit, WI 63611) Deanne will be laid to rest at Floral Lawns Cemetery in South Beloit, IL, next to her husband on Friday, October 11, 2024.
