Darrell C. Mentch, 44 of Jefferson, passed away on September 7, 2026, at his home with his family at his bedside.
Darrell was born on March 17, 1982, in Oconomowoc, WI, the son of Chris and Loretta (Briant) Mentch. He graduated from Oconomowoc High School in the year 2000, and married Cassandra Lamp on July 22, 2006, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Oconomowoc. The couple had 4 cherished children and recently celebrated their 20-year wedding anniversary. This summer the whole family was able to spend a few weeks seeing many amazing places across the West and making memories together. Darrell worked at Tomahawk Manufacturing of Plymouth, WI, a family-owned business that employed many of his own family members. He thrived there as a manufacturing engineer, and his employers treated him as their own, especially during his recent illness.
Darrell was hardworking and a sponge for knowledge; he was a database for the most random facts. He had an intense curiosity for life and a simple question asked to Darrell often came with the added benefit of an hour-long discussion on all the pertinent details. He loved to learn. If we could narrow down the list, Darrell was most interested in the details - the original specifications of the Pontiac GTO, the right gun to use for any situation, the manufacturing of anything, or the best way to smoke a prime rib. He enjoyed brewing beer with friends, trying new foods and getting those around him to appreciate the craftsmanship that went into making all these wonderful things. If you had a question, he had a recommendation. But above all, he treasured his wife and kids and put them first in his life and priorities. Darrell and Cassy were a team, valuing each other, loving one another’s quirks and strengths and together raising four amazing kids.
He is survived by: his wife Cassandra Mentch of Jefferson; children Hunter (Emma Riedel) Mentch, Maximus Mentch, Henry Mentch, and Lilyana Mentch, all of Jefferson; his father Chris Mentch of North Prairie; brothers Dean (Tina) Mentch of Waukesha, Doug Mentch of North Prairie, Dave Mentch of Pewaukee, and Dan (Megan) Mentch of Hingham; his faithful dog Freddy; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother Loretta in 2006. Along with both maternal and paternal grandparents, Mother and Father in-law, Uncle Craig Mentch and Cousin Brian Mentch. Along with his Saint Bernard Dozer.
A service celebrating his life will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, September 14, 2026, at the Olsen-Gibson Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Monday from 11:00AM until the time of service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery of Jefferson following the service.
The family requests that guests wear green and white in Darrell’s honor to the visitation and service.
