Dale A. "Ernie" Strasburg

Dale A. “Ernie” Strasburg, 68 of Jefferson, passed away in his sleep on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at his home.

Dale was born on October 6, 1954, in Fort Atkinson, WI, the son of Roger and Lula (Northey) Strasburg.  He grew up in the area and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1973.  While in high school, Dale was given the name “Ernesto” in Spanish class.  The nickname “Ernie” stuck.  Ernie worked as a truck driver most of his years at a variety of local companies.  On February 5, 1988, he married Audrey Gosz in Jefferson.  Ernie inherited 4 stepchildren and the love between them was mutual.  His family was the most important thing to Ernie.  He was quick to help with money, his time, his talents, or whatever else was needed.  He wouldn’t allow his family to pay for a meal and time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were cherished.  Ernie loved to be with people, never met a stranger, and made his friends feel special.  He was a good man who will be dearly missed.

He is survived by: his mother Lula Strasburg of Jefferson; wife Audrey Strasburg of Jefferson: stepchildren Kim Karlin-Kamin of Madison, Scott Karlin of DePere, Kris (Jeff) Lamb of Virginia Beach, VA, and Sara (Don) Johnson of Beloit; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sister Judy Runge of Jefferson; his siblings-in-law Mike (Donna) Mowrer of Manitowoc, Judy Evenson of Valders, Nancy Hammersley of Manitowoc, Kayleen (Blake) Halderson of Valders, Danny (Judy) Gosz of Valders, Ron (Karen) Gosz of New Holstein, Marilou (Bob) Mueller of Valders, and John (Isabelle) Gosz of Davenport, FL; and niece Becky (Dan) Runge and nephews Gabe and Vincent Runge.  Ernie is also survived by other family and many friends.

Ernie is preceded in death by his father and his brother-in-law Steve Runge.

A celebration of Ernie’s life will be held from 1:00PM-4:00PM on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Stix Event Center (formally the Jefferson Golf Course Club House).
