Collin W. Stevens

Collin W. Stevens, 84 of Jefferson, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at the Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center in Johnson Creek.

Collin was born on March 14, 1942, in Menomonie, WI, the son of Clifford and Alva (Follensbee) Stevens.  He graduated from Boyceville High School in 1960, and earned a teaching degree from UW-Whitewater, and later a master’s degree also from UW-W. On December 28, 1963, Collin was married to Carroll Peterson at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Wheeler, WI. The couple had 3 sons.

Collin was an active and leading member of the church council, choir, and congregation at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.

He was an avid hunter, expert fisherman, and snowmobiling enthusiast, and guided several fishing trips to Canada with many friends.

His small engine repair business in the home garage was both a side profession and a pastime.

Collin was formerly on Jefferson City Council and city mayor. He was a proud and respected teacher who cared deeply for his students and coworkers. He was an active member of the FCCU board, Lions Club, bowling leagues, and several outdoor sportsman groups.

Collin was an honest, hard-working, and caring man. He had a great sense of humor and was always there to help and serve.

He is survived by: his wife of 62 years, Carroll Stevens of Jefferson; sons Andrew Stevens of Lake Mills, Brian (Sévérine) Stevens of Eden Prairie, MN, and Jon Stevens of Gordon, WI; grandsons Taylor, Zappa, Jasper, Gilliam, and Uli; and his siblings Beverly (Ralph) Rogers of Austin, TX, and Jan Chumas of Eau Claire, and Dwight Stevens of Medford.  Collin is also survived by a number of other family members and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Benny, and brother-in-law Connie Chumas.

A Christian Memorial Service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, August 21, 2026, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Jefferson with Rev. Christopher Raiford presiding.  Visitation will be on Friday from 9:00AM until the time of service at the church.  He will be laid to rest at Rock River Cemetery during a private family graveside.
