Chris Mellinger, 51, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at his home in Jefferson, WI. Chris was born July 28, 1968 in Seattle, WA and was adopted by Donald & Carol Mellinger.
As a young adult, Chris relocated from Washington to Wisconsin where he lived his adult life. He struggled with drug addiction for many years, and finally broke free from his addiction in 2010 and enrolled in Madison Area Technical College, where he graduated, with high academic honors, and earned a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology.
While in college, he started a successful handyman business, taking on many clients and was well liked by all who hired him. Chris was also very active with Oxford House, helping people with addiction transition into sober living.
After graduating, Chris went to work for Ultratec, where he flourished and worked his way up to be a production coordinator. He was well respected during his years there.
Chris was a loving man who fought hard to keep his sobriety. Sadly, he suffered a heart attack due to coronary disease, but he remained sober. He was loved by many and will be truly missed. He is survived by his sister, Donna, daughter Amanda, step-mother Marie, all of Washington state, as well as many more extended family and friends alike.
His ashes will be spread, with his Dad's, at the family home in Bellingham, WA.
Chris was preceded in death by his mother, in February 2010 and his father, in November 2019.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Oxford Houses or American Heart Association are encouraged.
